🤔 Is this the cutest way to use up that mini skein?

New Pattern Release

During an interview, I boldly claimed that I'd designed a sock construction that could work with any colourwork motif. Naturally, I had to prove it. So, on a long road trip with no other project on hand, I decided to put my claim to the test and started knitting a new pair of socks.

I found the cutest colourwork motif and a lonely mini skein that had been waiting for the perfect project forever, and just had to try it out. Luckily, it turned out great! I had to do a bit of math to ensure everything lined up just right, which is why there is a separate pattern after all, which is launching today called Auseklis Socks.

The yarns I used were gifted, so I had a limited supply so the toe-up construction is kind of ideal as it allows for easy length adjustments. If you have multiple mini skeins or a gradient set, you can easily extend the length of the socks, whereas I had to stop at the ankle.

The yarn should be fingering or sock weight, and the gauge is 32 sts & 38 rows = 10 cm / 4" in colourwork stockinette in the round, blocked.

These socks start at the toe with Judy's magic cast-on. We then work through the toe with increases, followed by the instep, which allows for easy foot length adjustments. They incorporate an elegant sole gusset, include short-row shaping and a slip-stitch heel flap, and feature colourwork throughout.

I finished mine with an i-cord bind-off, as I love the nice, stylish look! That said, getting the tension just right can be tricky, so many people opt for a ribbed cuff instead. It still looks great!

This sock pattern is very similarly constructed to the VKL Memories Socks but with a different colourwork motif. If you're new to knitting toe-up or colourwork socks, you can follow the detailed YouTube tutorial for the original pattern that guide you through every concept and technique step by step.

I got my hands on an exclusive yarn-tasting box from Pascuali for our collaboration project, and I just couldn't choose one strand to work with. So, naturally, I decided to combine two of these gorgeous yarns in one project. But instead of the usual mohair pairing, I wanted to do something a little different, something with a twist. To make it even more interesting, I challenged myself to create a tailored look while leaving the pattern as simple and easy to follow as possible.

As a result, the Caeli Sweater is a seamless, top-down design featuring a mix of lace and slip-stitch textures that really highlight the unique qualities of the yarns. The end result is a sheer lace garment that's super trendy. It features a European shoulder and set-in sleeves that are worked simultaneously with the yoke.

Keep an eye out next week; the test call is coming!
