A new beginning

Hi! I know it was only last week when you last heard from me, but today is a reason to celebrate: my first pattern release this year, so I couldn't put this off.

Say hello to Metenis pullover, a stranded top-down yoke sweater featuring one of the Latvian power signs - Metenis, the symbol of a new beginning.

As the sun starts to climb higher and the winter slowly turns into spring, Latvians celebrate Meteņi. They say goodbye to the winter and welcome the spring with fun activities - riding a sledge down the hill, dressing up as fertility spirits performing various rituals. As a new spring awakens in nature, the inner world of man transitions from winter peace to movement.

Although spring is approaching, it is still quite cold, so a DK weight sweater is the way to go. Wool Decanted Vintage 21 DK (100% British wool) is the perfect yarn pairing for this project. I've used Storm as the main colour and River Thyme as the contrasting colour, but there are many bright and lively combinations available.
