Announcing the Zanete Knits Mystery Yokealong No.2

Are you ready for our next fun knitting adventure?

We're excited to announce our next Mystery Knitalong—a gorgeous round-yoke stranded colorwork sweater. This top-down, in-the-round project will be knit with sport or fingering weight yarn, but here's the twist: the final design will stay a surprise until the very end!

The pattern will be revealed in seven weekly "clues" starting January 20th. This is our second year teaming up with the amazing Do Ewe Knit? shop in New Jersey, featuring stunning yarns from Moondrake and Spincycle Yarns.

Last year's event was a blast, with well over 100 knitters joining in! We had a dedicated community channel where everyone shared progress photos (spoiler alerts included!) and cheered each other on. This year, we're adding a few extra touches to make the experience even better:  

• Clues will be smaller, and there will be more of them to make it easier to stay on track.  
• I'm including detailed demos and tutorials for every technique so knitters of all levels can join in.  
• The knitalong will happen on our Skool platform, where you'll get educational content plus a great space to connect with the community.

For this sweater, you'll need one main colour and one contrast colour.

High contrast between the two is key to making the design pop! We recommend Spincycle's Dyed in the Wool and Moondrake's new Ultraviolet Stardust base. If you're using a colour-changing contrast yarn like Dyed in the Wool, ensure the contrast holds up across the shifts.

Pattern details:

Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)

Finished chest circumference:

• 91.5 (101.5, 110, 120, 131.5, 140, 150, 161.5, 170) cm
• 36½ (40½, 44, 48, 52½, 56, 60, 64½, 68)”

Designed to be worn with 10-15 cm / 4-6” positive ease around the chest. 

To choose the most appropriate size, measure the wearer's chest and add the preferred ease. Or measure the circumference of an already-owned sweater that fits well. Then find the closest finished chest circumference. 

For those with a bust size larger than a C cup, it's advisable to use the upper bust measurement plus the desired ease to ensure the sweater fits well around the shoulders, with slightly less ease around the full bust.

Schematics

Yarn: Fingering and/or sport weight, depending on the length of the pullover, allow approximately:

Main colour (MC): 

• 940 (1030, 1080, 1180, 1250, 1315, 1405, 1505, 1585) m 
• 1030 (1130, 1180, 1290, 1365, 1440, 1540, 1650, 1735) yds

Contrast colour (CC): 

• 455 (490, 540, 575, 620, 660, 715, 760, 815) m
• 495 (540, 590, 630, 680, 725, 785, 830, 890) yds

Gauge: 28 sts & 34 rows = 10 cm / 4" in Stockinette stitch and colourwork in the round, on larger needles, blocked. Swatch both plain stockinette and colourwork, as you might need to change needle sizes to maintain the gauge. Block your swatch the same way you plan to block your pullover and let it fully dry before measuring the gauge. 

Suggested needles: 

• 2.75 mm (US 2) circulars 60-100 cm / 24-40" long and/or DPNs for small circumference knitting
• 2.25 mm (US 1) circulars 60-100 cm / 24-40" long and/or DPNs for small circumference knitting

Notions: Stitch markers, locking stitch markers and/or bobby pins if using Japanese short rows, row counter, stitch holder, tapestry needle.

Techniques used: Knitting in the round, short rows, mosaic knitting, stranded colourwork knitting, lifted increases, ladderback jacquard.
