✨Discover the Magic of Mosaic Knitting with Refracta✨

[object Object]

New Pattern Release

The Refracta Sweater is a top-down round yoke design, and my first real dive into mosaic knitting, and I had such a blast with it! The mosaic pattern continues past the sleeve separation, giving anyone plenty of chances to enjoy the technique. The geometric shapes don't have any special meaning—they're just the result of me playing around with this method. The name came from how it looks—it reminded me of light bending through a prism into bright patterns. This project is super fun, with new elements in the chart to keep things interesting and perfect for anyone exploring mosaic knitting!

Short rows are used to shape the back neck to create a better fit, and to keep both sides of the centre back symmetrical, this part is knit in the round. Once that's done, the knitting switches to working flat, which removes the jog you usually see at the start of a round. The pattern includes instructions for long sleeves, but since it's worked top-down, you can easily customise the sleeve and body length to fit your style. The sample shown keeps it casual with short sleeves, ready for the warmer months.

This pattern is available in six languages: English, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish. Since Etsy limits uploads to a maximum of 5 files per pattern, if you're purchasing through Etsy and require the Danish or Portuguese version, please email us your order number, and we will send you the download links as soon as possible.

Yasmeen Top

Ever since finishing the Noura Cardigan, I've been hooked on lace! Summer feels like the perfect time to dive into light, airy designs. This new piece is delicate and feminine, with intricate details. Made with top-down construction using fingering-weight yarn, it's perfect for warm weather and adds a bit of effortless elegance to your everyday wardrobe.

Test registrations will open on Wednesday, May 14th, at 3 PM BST, hopefully allowing more participants across different time zones to sign up. Registration will remain open until all slots are filled.

Auseklis Socks

During a recent interview, I shared how my VKL Memories Socks pattern could be adapted with new colourwork charts by tweaking the repeat starting points. On a long road trip without any sweater projects, I tested this idea—and it worked! That's how the Auseklis Socks were born. Featuring the Latvian Morning Star symbol, these toe-up socks have a gusset and heel flap construction. Mine are short because I had a very little amount of the contrast colour, but the length is infinitely customisable to fit your style.

You can register for the test on Wednesday, May 14th, at 3 PM BST. Sizes will remain available until all spots are filled.

Elan Sweater

Simplicity has a timeless charm, and that's exactly what inspired the Elan Sweater! I wanted the perfect spring wardrobe addition—a stylish off-shoulder sweater with a fold-over collar and flared sleeves. The pattern for this design is written for DK-weight yarn. What makes it special is its interesting construction, while still being easy to knit. Even if you're a newer knitter with some experience working in the round or tackling bigger projects, you can totally take this on. Plus, the pattern comes with step-by-step video tutorials for all the key techniques, so you'll have support every step of the way!

The pattern is launching soon, so don't miss it—stay tuned and watch for updates!

Sabir Cardigan Test

It's time to create another garment for my other half, but this time I'm setting aside his preference for plain and simple. Instead, I'm going all in with a cardigan that achieves the look of intricate cables—without a single actual cable! This design is a collaboration with Vincent and Maxim from Les Garçons, featuring their Marled British DK yarn. The stitch patterns draw inspiration from another remarkable man in the knitting world, André de Castro, who taught one of my VKL classes and introduced me to tuck and woven stitches. It feels fitting that a lot of talented men are contributing to the project when its wearer is also meant to be a man. But we'll see how that goes, I might steal it for myself in the end.

I'm super excited about this project, especially with all the cool techniques it includes. It's worked seamlessly from the top down and features the fully-fashioned European shoulder. If all goes well, it should be ready for testing by the time I send out the following newsletter.
