New Pattern Release
My newest colourwork design is here, the Ghali Sweater. The inspiration came from the desire for an endless stranded colourwork project, after seeing the gorgeous colours that Artfil Yarns feature in their sport weight base, Glitter. For this collaboration, I chose colourways Rhubarb and Slate, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.
This design really plays with negative space. We start with the contrast colour, and while the darker colour looks like it’s forming the drawing, the contrast colour acts like a veil, with lacey holes that let the darker background subtly peek through, and the holes get bigger so more of the darker colour is coming through until finally completely transitioning to the darker colour. The pattern also has charts for an inverted combination where the main colour is lighter than the contrast.
This sweater is a reasonably simple raglan that is worked seamlessly from the top down. It has plenty of positive ease to make it exceptionally comfortable to wear.
The stranded colourwork continues forever and ever, well beyond the sleeve separation, with the chart spanning a total of 131 rows and an option to make it infinite. I’ve also made a YouTube video that provides an in-depth look at all the elements of this project.
This pattern is available in 8 languages (English, French, Spanish, Danish, Portuguese, German, Norwegian, and Dutch) and 9 sizes.

Elza Sweater Test
As I was getting ready for the release of the Ghali Sweater, I started itching to cast on another all-over colourwork project. That’s when the idea hit me, a top-down raglan with all-over stranded colourwork, featuring a stunning traditional Latvian motif found on a pair of mittens.
I’m working with 100% Latvian wool, which has a rustic charm and is fantastic for colourwork, but quite difficult to come by. However, any sport-weight yarn would be a great alternative for this project. Keep an eye out for the test call in the next update, if everything goes as planned!
