"Make me a sweater with red dinosaurs!" he said...

I know many of you have been waiting for this day - the day when I can happily announce that the pattern for the Mykasaurus Sweater is out and available to download from Ravelry and zaneteknits.com .

Thanks to all the fantastic testers; their versions and sweet, adorable photos have stolen my heart, and I can't wait to see many more. I am so glad I did this.

The story goes: I was sitting on the sofa, working on the usual WIPs, and my 4-year-old son came up and said: "Mum, can you knit me a jumper [a sweater in UK English], with red dinosaurs?"

It was the first time he had asked me to make him anything, and I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least. Of course, I had to drop everything and get right to it. He chose the yarn for the dinosaurs, and luckily, there were a few options in my stash that worked well, so I could cast on the same day.

I didn't think I'd make a pattern at first, but then I asked my Instagram followers if there would be any interest and, if there was, what age range I should focus on.

Needless to say, I was overwhelmed by the responses from people who were interested in a pattern and of which a significant portion indicated that all adult sizes are a must. Once my daughter and husband saw me working on it, they wanted one for themselves, too. I felt I had no choice :)

That was at the very start of September. Here we are today, nearly 3 months later, and I have knit 3 different versions. The pattern is available in 11 sizes, from baby to adult, in English and Latvian. It is worked from the top down in the round using DK weight yarn.
