New Pattern Release

When I embarked on my colourwork knitting journey, I primarily worked with DK weight yarn. I thought it was the go-to choice for practising colourwork. However, a poll on Instagram proved me wrong! Turns out, fingering, sport and DK yarns are all equally adored. Moreover, many people sought lightweight colourwork patterns suitable for warmer climates and seasons.

Among the most popular requests were questions about my first colourwork yoke sweater design, Pagan Sky. Inspired by captivating Latvian folklore and the enduring significance of ancient Latvian symbols, it has remained a favourite since its creation. We decided to create a second edition of the pattern in collaboration with Farmer's Daughter Fibers. Using their Squish Fingering base, we transformed the original DK version into a stunningly lightweight project.

The pattern weaves together a collection of Latvian characters, showcasing the sacred signs of Dievs (God), the radiant Saule (Sun), the revered cross of Māra, and the ethereal elements of the Austra (Dawn) tree. These powerful symbols, beloved for their beauty, resilience, and protective qualities, have thrived through the ages and continue to inspire contemporary designs.

Notably, this fingering version of Pagan Sky offers a range of choices, allowing you to create a snug or roomy neckline and customize between a pullover or a steeked cardigan. This versatile four-in-one pattern presents you with a world of creative possibilities to cherish the heritage of Latvian knitting.

Kristine Cardigan

Meet Kristīne, the lucky winner of last year's La Grace Vest KAL! She won the fantastic prize of co-designing a pattern with Zanete. Her brilliant idea for a high-neck buttoned cardigan in half-brioche stitch got our attention. But here's the twist: she suggested using the wrong side of the stitch pattern and holding three strands of yarn, allowing you to create unique marbled colours while knitting! We loved her idea and turned it into a top-down seamless knitting project in 8 sizes. And guess what? The pattern is about to be released! We couldn't be happier with the result. Stay tuned to make your very own version of this fantastic design!

This collaboration with Miss La Motte yarns is genuinely something special. Plus, it's the perfect opportunity to try the ladderback jacquard technique for catching those long floats invisibly. We're expecting the test to fill up fast, so stay tuned!
