I am starting a test for #daturacardigan - the cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down in fingering weight yarn or single strand of lace weight mohair.

Note that this is an intermediate difficulty pattern.

I’m looking for 1-2 testers of each size below who can complete this project by the 23rd of April, 2023.

Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)

Finished bust circumference: 

  • 81.5 (92.5, 101.5, 112.5, 121.5, 132.5, 141.5, 152.5) cm
  • 32½ (37, 40½, 45, 48½, 53, 56½, 61)”

Designed to be worn with 1.5-12.5 cm / ½ - 5” positive ease, to fit chests with circumference:

  • 70-80 (80-90, 90-100, 100-110, 110-120, 120-130, 130-140, 140-150) cm
  • 28-32 (32-36, 36-40, 40-44, 44-48, 48-52, 52-56, 56-60)”

Yarn: Fingering weight or a single strand of lace weight mohair. Depending on the length of the cardigan, allow approximately:

  • 1015 (1150, 1290, 1425, 1575, 1780, 1955, 2155) m
  • 1110 (1255, 1410, 1555, 1720, 1945, 2135, 2355) yds

Yarn used in the sample (Size 2) is 3 skeins of Birdstreet Yarn Zebra yarn 4 ply (400 m [437 yds] / 100 g; 100% superwash merino) in colourway Peebles On A Beach. 

Gauge: 26 sts & 34 rows = 10 cm / 4” in Stockinette stitch, blocked. 

Suggested needles

  • Needles A: 3.25 mm (US 3) circulars at least 60 cm / 24” long
  • Needles B: 4 mm (US 6) circulars at least 60 cm / 24” long
  • Needles C: 2.75 mm (US 2) double pointed needles for ties

Notions: Crochet hook, waste yarn, stitch markers, row counter, scissors, tape measure, stitch holders, tapestry needle.

Techniques used: Provisional cast-on, i-cord cast-on, backward loop cast-on, cable cast-on, short rows, i-cord edge, i-cord, lifted increases, picot bind-off.

Difficulty: Intermediate.

Construction notes: The cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down.
