TEST CALL (TEST IS FULL): Vaidava Memories Socks

[object Object]

TEST IS NOW FULL.

Deadline: 26-Nov-23

We're starting a test for #vaidavamemoriessocks - cuff-down construction with a cable chart. Note that this is an intermediate difficulty pattern.

We're looking for a few testers for each size who can complete this project by the 26th of November, 2023.

Difficulty: Intermediate.

Sizes: 1 (2, 3)

Finished foot circumference:

  • 17.5 (20, 22.5) cm
  • 7 (8, 9)″

To apply for testing, please fill out this form: https://go.zaneteknits.com/apply-to-test

Other details of the design:

Yarn: Fingering weight, allow approximately:

  • 265 (315, 370) m
  • 290 (345, 405) yds

Yarn used in sample (size 2) is 2 balls of Lamana Merida (50% wool, 25% silk, 25% polyamide; 200 m [219 yds] /50 g) in colourway (#00).

Gauge: 32 sts & 40 rows = 10 cm / 4″ in stockinette stitch in the round, blocked. Block your swatch the same way you plan to block your socks and let it fully dry before measuring the gauge.

Suggested needles: 2-2.25 mm (US 0-1) circulars or DPNs for small circumference knitting.

Notions: Stitch markers, row counter, tape measure, removable stitch markers or bobby pins.

Techniques used: Tubular cast-on, knitting in the round, twisted stitches, cables, knit decreases.

Construction notes: These socks are knitted from the cuff down, starting with a Tubular cast-on. You'll follow the cable chart all the way down to the top of the heel. For the heel, you'll work a reinforced slip stitch heel flap flat and then turn it to create a Dutch heel. The gusset decreases are cleverly placed in the middle of the sole rather than on the sides. Finally, you'll continue knitting the foot in the round, finishing with a round toe.
