The most important reason my tribe chooses knitting

[object Object]

You might have already seen that I recently asked my Instagram followers to help me understand why people knit. Their answers helped me uncover some surprising and meaningful insights.

Thanks to all who took the time to express their points of view. I'm excited to share a summary of my findings with you finally.

I was a little surprised to see that creating "unique clothes that fit" was only the 7th most mentioned reason behind people picking up the needles. Either it shows how well-aligned my followers are with my motivations, or there is something seriously wrong, and no matter how much people knit, nothing fits.

But it was encouraging to see that relaxation/meditation had taken the top spot - it looks like we're all onboard the same ship.

Check out my latest blog post for a deeper analysis and see if any of the reasons mentioned there resonate with you, too. If so, welcome to my tribe. I'm delighted you're here and can't wait to see your self-care WIPs.

P.S. That article is also your excuse if you're still nervous about casting on a new project before completing a current WIP!

Yoke Meditation Series 2 knitting pattern by Zaneteknits

That said, it's no coincidence that today I'm introducing a pattern from a collection dedicated to the top most stated knitting reason: Yoke mediation series No 2. (If you're wondering what happened to No.1, it is still on my needles and coming soon.)

Here are some reasons to drop everything else and cast it on right away:

- To feel the thrill of creating a yoke that you can't put down, get lost in stunning colourwork and meditate,

- To try steeking,

- To create an exciting neckband,

- To learn one-row buttonholes or Japanese short rows,

- to create a unique deep-running colourwork cardigan,

- to look at lions smiling at you.

There might be some more. For me, all of these reasons played a role apart from the last one. Lions were a pleasant surprise after I had completed the design.

Aeternum Sweater knitting pattern by Zaneteknits

Lastly, a new test call was posted in my blog for pattern-testing enthusiasts. The design of this sweater is all my daughter's doing, and I was just there to write up the pattern. The deadline is the 5th of March, the gauge is on the large side as it's using DK+mohair or worsted/Aran weight yarn, and further details about the test and how to apply are all here. I hope to see your name on the list!

Happy knitting,

Zanete
