New Pattern Release
Meet the Thuraya Sweater! I’ve been in an experimental mood this year, and this one is the second successful outcome of knitting with mohair a bit differently than simply holding it with another yarn. This time there is some lace and slip stitch magic going on, resulting in this cosy sweater that’s perfect for fall.
I collaborated with Moondrake for this project. The yarns I used for this sweater are a mix of DK (DraKe) and lace weight (Kinu Momo), but I refer to them as opaque and sheer in the pattern to imply that it doesn’t have to be mohair if that’s not your thing. Any lace-weight yarn can easily be substituted.
I went with two contrasting colours to make the design pop, but using the same or similar colour for both yarns is also a great option; it would create a subtler look.
This design is worked seamlessly from the top down, featuring a European shoulder construction. There are just three stitch patterns incorporated throughout the project, but what makes the pattern a little more challenging, is keeping track of the changing design patterns as well as the shaping sections in the yoke. But don’t worry, I’ve added a round-by-round tracker table for each size at the end of the pattern to help you stay on track.
I’ve also put together a deep-dive video explaining this pattern’s construction and techniques in more detail.
Don’t miss out on your 20% discount, simply use the code THURAYA when you check out on Ravelry or Etsy!
This special offer is available until October 19th, 11:59 PM BST! If you encounter any problems with the discount code, please reach out before finalising your purchase, as discounts cannot be applied after the transaction is completed.
P.S. If you’re heading to Rhinebeck this year, you might spot me wearing this at the Moondrake stall at Woolen Affair. I’ll share more details on that soon!
In Other News...
This is just a quick reminder that the Rami socks pattern was released last week and is available on Ravelry and Etsy!
These toe-up socks have an all-over geometric colourwork pattern with slightly chunkier motifs. They feature a sole gusset and slip-stitch heel flap for durability, with extra stitches in the leg to enhance fit and ease of wear while maintaining a snug fit around the foot. They are also customisable from ankle to knee height.
Our second Socktober KAL is starting and will last for the whole of October! We’ll be running it on Ravelry and Skool, so don’t hesitate to show off your beautiful works. Three of my previously released sock patterns: Rhubarb and Custard Socks, Vaidava Memories Socks, Porto Memories Socks are now available in 8 languages, and there is a free sock pattern, as well.
And a little reminder that you can still use the code SOCKTOBER25 to receive 20% off all sock patterns on Ravelry and Etsy during the Socktober KAL. This offer is valid through the end of October 5th.
Here’s a preview of what’s coming in the next newsletter
Yoke Meditation Series No˙6 Test
The Yoke Meditation series has returned and I’m thrilled about this in partnership with Shangdrok. No 6 features quite chunky, soft Cloudy Alpaca yarn using a gradient set as the contrast colour instead of colour-changing yarn. With a generous gauge of 14 stitches by 20 rows, it’s not only one of the cosiest options but also one of the fastest to complete. It features a round yoke, stranded colourwork and is worked seamlessly from the top down, with the colourwork extending well past the sleeve separation. The test call will be shared in the upcoming newsletter, so keep an eye out!
