Have you ever tried to find a pattern for a plain man’s sweater with no luck? Meet the Daddy-Son sweater, a simple crewneck created in collaboration with my husband. It features an unusual shoulder detail and closely fitted sleeves as, according to my other half, “Men don’t like baggy sleeves. We like to show off our muscles!”

Despite the straightforward look, it’s an exciting knitting project as it is a seamless top-down construction with simultaneously worked sleeves. And there are no short rows!

Backward loop cast-on, lifted increases, knitting in the round, Zanete’s tubular bind-off for 2x2 ribbing (video tutorial available)

The sweater is worked seamlessly in the round from the top down. Back neckline stitches are cast-on, shoulders and neckline are shaped using lifted increases. Stitches for front shoulders are picked up along the back shoulders and worked with increases shaping the front neckline. Stitches for sleeve caps are picked up along the front shoulder edges. Yoke is worked in the round down to underarm with increases along the armhole edges. Body and sleeves are separated and the body is worked in the round down to the hem. Held stitches for sleeves are transferred to the working needles and sleeves worked in the round all the way to cuffs.
