Description
Say hello to the 10th pattern in our Memories Socks series – the Lyon Memories Socks! This is another toe-up design, but this time we’ve added some lace and cable stitches, inspired by our trip to Lyon's Knit.Eat festival. The festival was amazing, packed with things to see and do, though sometimes it was so busy you couldn’t even stretch your arms out—it kind of reminds me of how some stitches in cables feel! Luckily, there were plenty of cozy spots to sit and relax, whether at the incredible food court or the chill resting areas.
These socks come with a comfy sole gusset, a reinforced slip-stitch sole and heel flap, plus a bit of short row shaping at the heel for a nice rounded look. You can use any sock yarn that matches the stitch gauge, but I’d recommend sticking with solid or semi-solid light colors to make those details pop.
The row gauge isn’t as important since you can easily adjust the length of the foot and leg. Just pick your size based on your foot circumference, with zero ease recommended for a great fit. A little negative ease is fine too if you want them extra snug.
The pattern includes a step-by-step tutorial to walk you through all the techniques, which is helpful, especially for the short rows over the slip-stitch pattern.
Knitting these socks is such a fun project—the stitch pattern keeps things interesting, and you might even pick up a new technique or two along the way. Give them a try!

Other Notes
Techniques
Judy's magic cast-on, lifted increases, cables, lace knitting, Japanese short rows, Tubular bind-off.
Notes
The sock begins at the toe with a Judy's Magic Cast On. Toe increases are achieved using lifted increases.
The chart is incorporated starting with the instep and is knitted across the top of the foot, while the remainder of the sock is worked in a slip-stitch pattern.
After the instep, gusset increases are added to the bottom of the foot.
The heel is shaped using Japanese short rows, and the heel flap continues in the slip-stitch pattern.
The leg is knitted in the round, maintaining the cable chart pattern across the top.
It concludes with a 1x1 twisted rib and a stretchy Tubular Bind-Off.
